Icky Substance I Just Found In My "Whole Foods" Salad…
I have to go to the grocery store this weekend and I’m TOTALLY dreading it.
Does your head spin when you read food labels?
So does mine.
In fact, I stopped reading food labels a couple years ago when I stopped shopping in the aisles and began buying only whole, unpackaged, unprocessed foods.

There Was Definitely No Chicken in My Chicken Salad…
My husband and I love chicken, tuna, and egg salads. When we make them at home we use greek yogurt or even hummus instead of mayonnaise, because we generally try to avoid canola oil. (more on that in a moment.)
But the last time I went to Whole Foods, I noticed a beautiful ‘Blackened Chicken Salad’ for sale with beautiful carrots, green onion, and even cayenne spice.
When I got home, I noticed that the chicken salad was no chicken salad at all: it was made with SOY nuggets – not chicken.
What’s the big deal?
I try to avoid soy for a variety of reasons.

1. Soy Makes You Girly…
Soy has a bad rep for making girly men…
Yep, it’s believed to even cause gynecomastia (man boobs) in men.

2. It Affects Your Thyroid…

7. Soy Is Hard to Digest
Oxalates and lectins in soy both make it hard to digest.
Oxalates may even cause kidney stones: one of the most painful things in the world if you ask anybody who’s had them!
Lectins are even scarier: they may cause clotting of red blood cells and immunologic problems.

Hi Mary! I avoid soy that isn’t fermented. Soy sauce, for instance, is fermented. Whereas soy milk is not. I was having a problem opening the link and at first thought it was my computer. This is an exceptional article as Whole Foods, a very good business, still needs to be monitored when it comes to prepared foods.
Soy, along with low and non-fat dairy, is a widely accepted myth that is not necessarily healthy and can do damage.

Nancy, thanks for touching base 😉 Can you believe some of the items that are still in WHole Foods prepared cases? Soy, canola oil, and added sugar are just a few. In my original research I was going to name 5 different ones – and still may do that with some more research. However I’m really hoping that Whole Foods gets more strict with their ingredients. I believe that it will behoove them because people who care about their health WILL pay the extra $1.00 or two for clean foods. Thanks for letting me know the link had a problem, by the way. Wow.Whew. Anaphylactic to soybean oil..WH prepared always looks so tempting and healthy. But when eaten it causes heartburn and GERD symptoms and never tastes as good as it looks. Now we know why. Almost all of restaurant cooking oil is vegetable blend and includes soybean oil no wonder millions of people have heartburn and gerd and they are blaming it on certain foods also soybean is cheap so prepared foods and restaurants like to use it to save a few dollars..what a terrible thing they are doing to our nation’s people..soybean is really bad..
