Is Juicing Making You Fat?!
It wasn’t the first time this happened…
I’m sitting at a coffee shop the other day and I notice a mother and her two children consuming blended iced coffee drinks, lattés, cake pops, and other fattening treats in front of me.
The children were pale, overweight, and moody; but the adults were even worse off than the kids.
I couldn’t help myself- since they sat right across from me- so I asked the woman what she was drinking.
“It’s a skinny latté,” she replied proudly.
Skinny lattés, sugar-laden smoothies, ‘sugary ‘vitamin’ waters… heck … even “skinny” Margaritas!
…It seems like everybody wants to have their cake and eat it, too!
But did you know that many common drinks bring marketed to you as healthy or “Skinny” alternatives to traditional ‘soda’ or blended coffee drinks are sometimes actually keeping you overweight, stressed, or even ill?
Thankfully, you don’t have to succumb to these toxic tactics.
Is Juice Toxic?
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is via ‘juicing’.
Yes, I said juice.
I’m not talking about the healthy, natural, do-it-yourself at home kind… with one ormaybe two pieces of fruit…
I’m talking about the bad stuff… the toxic, sugary, insulin spiking fruit bombs.
I cringe when I’m in a store and I see people with children in their carts loading up on gallons of what is called ‘juice’, but is really just sugar water.
Marketers put trendy labels to fool people into buying expensive ‘health’ drinks with super-sweet concoctions that claim to be loaded with beets, apples, mangoes, oranges, kiwis and, well, … you get the point.
Some of these store-bought juices even have real fruits and vegetables in them, but often the problem is that they’ve watered down the real fruit juice and you’re left with a super-sweet, highly caloric, fiber-less ‘health’ drink (that may even look kinda green…)
Worse yet – they often add high fructose corn syrup to them.
Some Juice Actually Makes You Fat
When you strip the blood sugar-regulating fiber out of the fruit and then suck down enough fructose to spike the insulin levels of a small village, you risk storing fat in your body.
Worst of all – the insulin spike will leave you craving carbs for the rest of the day!
Try to stick to juice that’s chock full of greens and roots will provide you with realbenefits that cleanse your body and keep you on track with your slimming goals.
Green equals lean – remember that juicing is incredible – but try to do it at home where you can monitor the ingredients – without the added high fructose corn syrup!
