5 Weight Loss Tips to Start Today
Sometimes I like to make plans.
I decide that I am going to make a change, and then lay out a step-by-step guide of the best way to do it. Sometimes I even make lists or charts of all of the things necessary to put my plan into place.
Then, after all of the plotting and planning, I find myself too tired/overwhelmed/stressed out to actually begin doing anything.
And then I’m on to the next big plan.
Does this sound familiar; do you sometimes get so caught up in the big idea that you forget to take the first step?
I think a lot of diets work this way; all of the counting and planning gets in the way of actually DOING.
With that in mind, here are 5 weight loss tips that you can start today:
1. Eat more fresh fruit/veggies:
Start today. Add your favorite veggies into your morning eggs and make a scramble, opt for a salad for lunch, snack on apple slices or baby carrots, or enjoy fruit salad for desert. There are so many simple and delicious ways to incorporate more produce into your diet every day.
2. Out with the junk:
If junk food is the most easily accessible thing in your kitchen, then chances are you will eat it. I know that despite my best efforts, I will absolutely reach for a bag of tortilla chips as a mindless snack if I have them sitting around. Don’t let temptation get the best of you. Clear out the old, and then on your next grocery trip get healthy snacks that can replace the junk food. Having a bowl with fresh fruit around is also a great way to encourage healthy snacking.
3. Move more:
Pretty much any additional movement you can add to your day is great. Even on my busiest days, I will stop every so often to stretch or just get away from my computer and take a 10-minute walk. All of the little increments add up, so if you can get moving a few times a day you will start to feel a difference. Even better, get up and go ride your bike, shoot some hoops, or find yourself a class – yoga, dance, tai chi, spinning – whatever makes you feel great.
4. Get your sleep on:
Even minor sleep deprivation can affect your hunger hormones and make you feel more ravenous the next day (not to mention sluggish). Make sleep a priority by giving yourself time to unwind before bedtime and allowing for 7-9 hours each night. Your mind and your waistline will thank you for it.
5. Sip smarter:
Are you a coffee drink junkie? Swap out those high-calorie, sugary blended drinks for a skim milk latte, or just make it at home with some drip coffee with stevia and a splash of almond milk. Replace your morning juice with some fruit infused sparkling water. And of course, if you need an afternoon pick-me-up, our amazing Wu-Long Tea beats a soda any day of the week.

I live in Texas and it is normally HOT in the summer. This summer my drink has been iced Wu-Long tea in the heat. I just put a little Stevia in and keep one by my side !
